Richard Arlen

Richard Arlen (September 1, 1899 – March 28, 1976) was an American actor. Handsome leading man Richard Arlen was born Cornelius Richard Van Mattemore in Charlottesville. He began his acting career as an extra in silent movies, and made a big hit in the William Wellman silent movie classic "Wings" (1927), with Clara Bow and Buddy Rogers, the first film to win an Academy Award as Best Picture.

Brigitte Helm (17 March 1906 – 11 June 1996) was a German actress. After her role in Metropolis she made a string of movies in which she almost always had the starring role, easily making the transition to sound films. Her last film was Ein idealer Gatte (An Ideal Spouse) in 1935.

Ruth Moore

Ruth Ella Moore, (1903 - 1994) received a Bachelor of Science from Ohio State University in 1926 and a Master of Arts in 1927. Ruth Moore received a Ph.D. in Bacteriology from Ohio State University in 1933 becoming the first black female to earn a Ph.D. in Bacteriology. Dr. Moore served as the Head of the Department of Bacteriology at Howard University Medical College, from 1947 to 1958. Dr. Moore served as a part-time professor at Howard University from 1971 until her retirement. Professor Moore's area of research focused on blood grouping and enteriobacteriaceae.
