| Popeye the Sailor is a cartoon fictional character created by Elzie Crisler Segar, who has appeared in comic strips and animated cartoons in the cinema as well as on television. He first appeared in the daily King Features comic strip Thimble Theatre on January 17, 1929. Popeye also became the strip's title in later years. “I’m Popeye the Sailor Man, I’m Popeye the Sailor Man. I’m strong to the finish Cause I eat me spinach.
